I hope everyone’s had a nice summer and been able to do some photography. With COVID coming under control, my spring and summer have been busy, leading trips to Georgia, the Palouse, the Canadian Rockies, Iceland, Sedona and most recently, Nova Scotia. I’m off to South Dakota this week for another one, but wanted to get an update for my future classes and trips posted first.
I’ve been asked to teach two online classes for the Creative Photo Academy through Paul’s Photo this fall. If you missed out when I was teaching these classes last year, now’s your chance to sign up:
Wildlife Photography – Three classes held on three consecutive Wednesday evenings starting Oct. 5. All of the details can be found here.
Night Photography – Another popular class I taught last year, three consecutive Wednesday evenings starting Oct. 26. Details here.
2023 International (plus Hawaii)
Hawaii – I’m helping lead a photography tour on the big island of Hawaii in February with my good friend Rene Bastien of Highlight Photo Tours. Rene’s finishing up details in the next week or two, so email me if you’d like to know when they’re posted.
Cuba – After leading two trips in February of 2020, I’m returning with eight lucky people to spend a week exploring this unique island country. All the details are here, and spots are filling fast!
Tanzania – The Serengeti never disappoints, and so I’m returning once more, again using the incredible guide service run by Yusuf. Organized by my old friends at PackPaddleSki, we’ll repeat the excellent itinerary we used in 2021 (see a story about that trip here) . It will be from the end of July into early August 2023, and I should have final details soon. Let me know if you’re interested.
Morocco – After having to postpone twice due to COVID, I’m happy to announce we’re finally going this fall. Details are here.
2023 United States – I tend to organize these trips about six months out, and which ones I end up running often depend on how much interest there is. So drop me an email if any if any of these pique your interest:
Spring – California coastline south of San Francisco. I led this with an old friend back in 2016, and am looking at doing it again. Here’s a blog post from that trip.
Spring – Last year Michael Schwarz and I took a group up to the mountains of north Georgia for a workshop there, and the great variety of subjects there led to a lot of really nice photos. We’re game to do it again if there’s enough interest. Here you can see some of what we did last year.
Spring – The Palouse – While most photographers visiting the Palouse stay on the Washington side, there are lots of great opportunities over in Idaho \ as well. We took advantage of that in 2022, and Jim and I would love to share some of those areas with you in 2023.
Summer – Montana – Donnie Sexton and I have been wanting to lead a small-group trip to this western wonderland for a few years now, but things kept getting in the way. We’re persistent, and so hope to put together a trip that combines the state’s natural beauty with a large Native American PowWow.
Late summer – Sedona – I ran my second trip there just a few weeks ago, and we had a wonderful time taking advantage of the less-crowded off-season and afternoon thunderstorms. I’ll get a story done on the trip soon, and a gallery posted, but trust me, it’s a good one.
Fall – Page and Monument Valley – I led this spectacular trip in 2019, and haven’t been able to return since, so hoping 2023 will change that. We split our time between those two areas, and have a great Navajo guide to take us into MV for two evenings of night photography. Here’s what it was like last time.
Fall – South Dakota – I’m off next week to lead my third workshop there – the Custer area and Badlands – and really looking forward to it. There’s a wide variety of photos we can make in those two very different areas, and this post from last year will show you why.
Fall – Acadia – Having led trips there in 2019 and 2021, I’m looking forward to a return to this unique ecosystem of great natural beauty on the east coast. Hoping to set dates for early October, I’ll try to get this locked down this coming spring. Here’s a story from the last trip.
November – Moab – This area is so special I always have people who want to go, year after year, and 2023 will be the sixth year in a row I’ve taken groups there. You can find stories from some of those trips here: https://reedhoffmann.com/?s=Moab
That’s it for now. Again, if you have any questions about any of these trips, or would like to be put on the “interested” list for one of them, please email me and let me know. And you can always see a list of my current classes and workshops, as well as those I’m planning, on my New Workshops page.
(If you like this story, please share it with your friends and let them know about the links on photography that I post on my business Facebook page. I’m also on Instagram and Twitter, @reedhoffmann. And if you’re curious about the workshops I teach, you can find them here. And, you can subscribe to this blog on my home page.)
