With my 2024 trips wrapping up the over next three months, now’s a good time to remind everyone of what I have scheduled for the first part of 2025, as well as what I’m hoping to do later that year. More info on all of these trips can be found here.
February – Iceland – I’ve led many trips to Iceland, but only once in winter. And I honestly believe it’s better then. Not as cold as you might think (average temp around 30 degrees F), less crowded, the waterfalls can be prettier, better ice on the beaches, easy to visit the ice caves, sunrise and sunset light at reasonable hours, and the biggest one, of course, Northern Lights! Added bonus – Einar’s one of the best guides I’ve ever worked with. I still have one or two spots open if you’re interested.
March – Savannah and Charleston – sold out but taking names in case of a cancellation.
April – Sloss Furnaces, Birmingham, AL – Working with a local photographer, I led this last year and it was a lot of fun! A true workshop, we have conference room facilities where I teach a couple of sessions, and the run of an old iron mill (including past closing time to teach night photography and light painting). The price is quite a bit different, too, as I let you arrange your own lodging and handle your own transportation (three of the four days are spent on-site at the mill).
April – Namibia – This will be my third trip to this fascinating southwest African country. Lots of great landscape opportunities, a ghost town being reclaimed by the desert, the tallest and most colorful sand dunes in the world, local villagers and of course, wildlife. Done in partnership with the Creative Photo Academy, I’m going to be giving a Zoom talk about this trip next week on Wednesday evening, Oct. 9. Here’s the link for that talk (which will also be recorded for future viewing).
May – Ireland – The country is just as beautiful as you’ve heard, and we’ll photograph a lot of that. I first led a trip there in 2014, and am eager to return, this time working with Rene Bastien and Highlight Photo Tours. There are a few spots still available.
June – Newfoundland – Canada offers some easy “international” destinations for Americans, and Newfoundland is a beautiful area few of us visit. Quaint and colorful villages, icebergs, raw landscapes plus puffins and whales. Another trip run by my old friend Rene Bastien, and you can find that discount here.
July – Tanzania – One of the most popular international trips I lead (and have been since 2005), you can’t beat Tanzania and the Serengeti for huge numbers of African wildlife. We’ll spend one day with local tribes, then the rest of the time photographing critters, from the Serengeti to the Mara River and Ngorongoro Crater.
I’ll also lead several more U.S. trips, from late summer through the fall. On my list of what I hope to do are the Palouse, Sedona, Page/Bryce/Monument Valley, Montana and finally, Moab. If you’re interested in any of those, let me know and I’ll put you on the “interested” list. That way you’ll be the first to know when the details are locked down and the trip is ready for registrations. And, of course, if you have any questions about any of the trips, please let me know.
